Troubleshoot an Autopost Failure
Last updated: June 4, 2026
Scheduling your content to publish automatically across your channels is one of the best ways to keep your brand active while saving hours of manual work. However, when a post fails to publish, it can disrupt your campaign timeline and leave you wondering what went wrong.
If your scheduled post did not auto-publish, this guide will help you verify your settings, rule out common platform errors, and grab the right details to share with Rella Support so we can resolve the issue quickly.
Initial Troubleshooting Steps
Before contacting support, walk through this quick pre-flight checklist to identify the most common setup errors:
Verify the Auto Publish toggle is turned on: Simply dragging a post onto your Calendar or changing its state to a scheduled Status does not automatically trigger auto-publishing. Open the specific Content card and confirm that the Auto Publish toggle is explicitly switched On.
Confirm your platform connections: Navigate to your profile settings and make sure the social accounts you are targeting are currently connected, verified, and not showing an "expired credentials" warning.
Check for a failure email: Did you receive an email notification from Rella regarding the auto-post failure? Rella automatically distributes email notifications when a publishing run fails, which often contain direct error codes or specific reasons provided by the social platform (e.g., expired permissions, platform API downtime, or media format issues).
Failed Autoposts FAQs
Can I retry a failed auto-post?
Yes. If a post fails, you can resolve the issue (such as replacing incompatible media or re-linking your account), toggle Auto Publish back to On, adjust your scheduled start time to a future slot, and save your changes to queue it for a retry.
What happens if my post is approved after its scheduled time?
If a post was blocked because it lacked approval and you subsequently approve it after the scheduled time has passed, it will not publish retroactively. You must adjust your scheduled start time to a future slot and toggle Auto Publish back to On to queue it for publishing.
