Understand Ella AI Billing & Usage

Last updated: May 29, 2026

Generating fresh post ideas, brainstorming captions, and writing content with an AI assistant can significantly speed up your social media workflow, but keeping track of usage limits and billing should never be a guessing game. In Rella, Ella—your AI-powered teammate—is designed to help you create better posts faster, with clear visibility into how her usage is tracked and billed.

Plan Inclusions & Availability

Ella is available exclusively on Premium and Premium Plus plans. Her billing structure depends entirely on your subscription tier:

  • Premium Plus Plans: You have Unlimited access to Ella. Your team can write, brainstorm, and generate summaries as much as needed with zero usage caps, zero overage charges, and no spend limits.

  • Premium Plans: Your plan includes a monthly pool of Ella usage that scales with the size of your team.

    • Your included usage pool resets automatically on the 1st of each calendar month.

  • Pro Plans: Ella is not available. To access her features, an administrator must upgrade your Organization to a Premium or Premium Plus plan.

How Ella AI Billing Works

When you are on a Premium plan and your team uses Ella to generate Content or analytics summaries, your progress is tracked as a percentage of your included monthly pool.

If your team reaches 100% of your included monthly pool, Ella will temporarily pause. To prevent work from grinding to a halt, administrators can activate additional usage-based overages:

  1. Navigate to your sidebar and click your organization avatar or name to open Organization Settings.

  2. Select the Billing tab.

  3. Locate the Ella Usage section.

  4. Click Add Unlimited Ella Usage to your plan. This activates an add-on subscription that enables usage-based pricing.

  5. Once activated, any usage beyond your included pool is recorded and billed directly on your next regular subscription invoice date.

How to Set a Monthly Ella Budget

To keep your overage costs predictable, Rella allows administrators to enforce a strict cap on additional AI spend beyond your included monthly pool.

  1. Open Organization Settings and select the Billing tab.

  2. Under Monthly Ella Budget, locate the budget input field.

  3. Enter your maximum allowed overage amount in dollars (minimum budget is $5.00). Alternatively, select one of the quick preset buttons ($10$20$30$40, or $50).

  4. Click Save Spend Limit.

Once saved, Ella will refuse to charge past this budget. If your overage spend reaches your set budget, she will pause until you manually increase the limit or your usage resets on the 1st of the next month. To allow unlimited overages with no cap, simply click Clear to remove the limit.

Ella AI Billing FAQs

Can I track our current Ella usage in real time?

Yes. Any administrator can view your current monthly usage progress bar under the Billing tab in Organization Settings. To ensure you are seeing the most up-to-date data, click the refresh icon next to Ella Usage to pull the latest metrics.

What happens to unused included usage at the end of the month?

Unused monthly included usage does not roll over. On the 1st of each calendar month, your pool resets back to your baseline allotment.

If I add or remove team seats, does my included Ella pool change immediately?

Yes. Because your monthly included AI pool is calculated per purchased seat, adding team seats immediately increases your organization-wide pool of included usage. Reducing your seat count will decrease your baseline pool starting on your next billing cycle.

Do my clients use up my Ella usage pool?

No. Clients and external collaborators who access your Social Spaces via public links do not have editing permissions and cannot interact with Ella directly. Only members of your Internal Team who have paid seats can trigger AI actions and consume your monthly usage.

How is my overage usage calculated?

Overage is measured by the length and complexity of your requests (calculated behind the scenes as "tokens"). This usage is converted into a standard dollar amount and added directly to your regular subscription invoice.
