Connect ChatGPT to Rella via MCP

Connect Rella to ChatGPT using the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to search, draft, and manage your Content, Tasks, Notes, and Media directly inside ChatGPT conversations.

Before You Start

  • Plan Requirements: The ChatGPT MCP integration is available exclusively on Premium and Premium Plus plans. If you need to upgrade your plan, navigate to your sidebar, click your organization logo to open Organization Settings, and select the Billing tab to click Manage Subscriptions.

  • A ChatGPT account with access to Developer mode.

  • Access Control: Only the owner or administrators of an Organization can authorize the initial ChatGPT connection, but team members can be granted access depending on your permissions settings.

How to Connect Rella MCP to ChatGPT

Note: If using workspaces, this article is a good reference. The following steps are for personal accounts.

  1. Log in to ChatGPT.

  2. Click your profile icon in the bottom-left corner and select Settings. 

  1. Select Plugins from the left navigation sidebar.

  1. Go to Developer mode, and toggle it on.

  1. Close the Settings dialog and select Plugins from the main left sidebar menu. 

  1. Click the + (Add) icon next to the search bar. Fill out the plugin creation form with your Rella MCP details (IMP you must check the bottom check box; leave auth as OAuth which should be default):

  • Name: Enter a name that includes "Rella" (for example, "Rella MCP").

  • Authentication: Leave as OAuth (default).

  • Developer Acknowledgement: Select the checkbox at the bottom acknowledging developer mode plugin data access.

  • Icon and Description: Optional. 

  1. Click Create to trigger the Rella authorization flow.

  1. You should now see the Rella MCP in your Plugins (under whatever name and icon was given in the form)

  1. Open a new chat in ChatGPT.

  2. Click the + icon to the left of the chat text box and select your Rella MCP connector. 

  1. Type your prompt to start interacting with your Rella workspace. 

Result

ChatGPT displays your Rella MCP connector in the plugins menu and can access your connected Organization and Social Space to manage Content, Tasks, Notes, and Media.

What Rella plan tier is required to use the MCP integration?

The MCP integration requires a Premium plan or above. If your Organization is on a lower tier, an admin can upgrade your subscription under Account > External Connections or Organization Settings.

How do I change the connected Organization or Social Space?

Navigate to Account > External Connections in Rella, locate your MCP connection row, and expand it to update your selected Organization or Social Space. You can also ask ChatGPT to switch your active space during a chat session.

What can ChatGPT do with my Rella workspace?

ChatGPT can search and edit Content, create and track Tasks, search Notes, manage Media in your gallery, and pull social performance analytics for your active Social Space.

Can I connect ChatGPT workspace or team accounts?

Yes. If you use a ChatGPT Team, Enterprise, or Edu workspace, your workspace administrator must enable developer mode and custom MCP apps for your workspace first.
